One liners - People aren't reacting to Facebook's Reactions

I can say, I have used the new-ish Facebook reactions (Love, Haha, Wow, Sad, Angry) only once. It is just too easy to read a post, hit "like" and move on. The stat above proves I am not the only one who feels this way. 

Adoption is hard, especially when there is little to no benefit for the individual who has to break an old habit to use the functionality. This eMarketer article points out that all of the feelings expressed in these reactions are generally the same. By not using these reactions users are essentially saying, it is not worth the extra effort to demonstrate only a marginally different feeling. For the economists or accountants out there, Margin Cost (MC) > Marginal Benefit (MB). 

Is it really too hard to hover (desktop) or tap and hold (tablet/mobile) to make a selection from these additional feelings? Short of creating a UI/UX nightmare and putting them on all on the "Like, comment, share" bar, I don't know if it could get much easier but the jury (for now) has spoken. 

In my personal opinion, one additional button to this bar would not be too cluttered... It would be interesting to see the use of a more prominently accessible "Dislike". Potentially changing the result of the MC < MB equation...
